A BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district, 170 kilometres from Lucknow, has alleged assault by the native police chief after an argument over voter lists for the upcoming panchayat elections.
Dramatic visuals present MLA Abhay Kumar, popularly referred to as Dheeraj Ojha, strolling out of the workplace of the district Justice of the Peace with a torn kurta in his fingers. On digital camera, he accuses the newly appointed Superintendent of Police Akash Tomar of assaulting him.
“Ek vidhayak ko maara kaptaan ne (the SP has assaulted an MLA),” Mr Ojha says in a viral clip, as he lies down on the bottom in protest.
“I had executed nothing incorrect. The SP desires to get me crushed. He’s a harmful man, he’ll get me killed,” he provides.
The IPS officer, nonetheless, stated the MLA had levelled false allegations towards him after he requested him to not misbehave on the DM’s workplace.
One other cellular clip from across the identical time exhibits Mr Tomar leaving the district Justice of the Peace’s workplace; the MLA and his supporters observe him. The officer and the MLA are seen arguing within the clip later.
“Faltu ki baat mat kariye (Do not speak garbage),” the officer says.

Because the officer walks in direction of his automobile, the MLA shouts “will you shoot me”. His supporters repeat their chief’s phrases.

The MLA later instructed reporters that there have been discrepancies in voter lists. “Why does the administration not need real voters to be on the lists?” he stated.
The officer, in a written assertion, refuted the allegations.
“The MLA, Mr Dhiraj Ojha, had sat on a dharna on the residence of the Pratapgarh district Justice of the Peace. After I requested him to not misbehave, he raised false allegations towards me. The DM was current with me always. The police had nothing to do with these occasions,” he stated.
